Champion / Mage is one of the strongest combinations for the Champion class, having a great position not just in group PvE, but also in Siege War skirmishes. Boasting massive AoE damage (Elemental Rampage being notorious for hitting everything nearby for millions of damage), hard-hitting single-target damage, the multi-purpose tool High-Energy Barrier for PvP, and the capacity to one-shot kill most lower-level bosses, Champion / Mage is strongly recommended for players that want to play Champion, but don't have a determined end-game plan.
Main Ways of Build[ | ]
Stacking Strength as an attribute will allow this combo to hit as hard as possible, though Dexterity for accuracy and Stamina for taking a hit are good stats to look for as well.
While this combination can't really serve as a main tank outside of dealing as much damage as possible and trying to burst down groups of enemies before being overwhelmed, it does provide many skills to allow to off-tank effectively in case of emergencies. Key Rescue and Rune Draw are a good example of this, as these two skills can swiftly save a healer that's drawn too much aggro, or draw fire from the tank if they're suffering from an unexpected amount of damage. Also, by putting Suppressive Offensive on an enemy boss, Rapid Spread will help with personal survival and dealing with adds at the same time, which is another great way to support a group in PvE. Champion / Mage can tank magical targets with unparalleled effectiveness, however; Elemental Defense reduces all magical damage taken by 100%, which no other class can boast to easily have.
For PvP, apart from what has already been mentioned, Bloody Experience allows for Suppressive Offensive to stun, which Shock Strike can also do. Electrocution and Rune Draw interrupt spellcasters, and Silence serves a similar purpose by preventing spells from being cast, while Obstacle Force Field turns Imprisonment Pulse into one of the most oppressive skills in PvP, shutting down groups of players for a long time and rendering them practically helpless from being wiped off the face of the map.
