The term "Mob" is a contraction of "Mobile Object". The term originated in the world of MUDs, or Multi-User Dungeons, in the days of dial-up Bulletin Board Systems (BBSs) long before the term came into use for monsters in a MMORPG. Technically, it refers to anything in the game that is not a player and can interact with the player. This includes Non-Player Characters, Monsters, and Mounts or Vehicles.

Aggression[ | ]

There are four types of mobs indicated by the color of their names displayed over their heads.

  • Aggressive - If they see you they will attack you.
  • Passive - These will not attack you for any reason unless you hit them first.
  • Non-player Characters - Totally non-aggressive and cannot be attacked.
  • Ambience - Exists to provide life to the game world. They are non-aggressive and die almost instantly if you hit them.

In addition to this, the popup information when you mouse-over a mob will display their name in a color indicating their suitability for hunting/grinding, based on your level versus theirs.

  • Helter Skelter - Coming down fast but still miles above you. To engage them in combat could be considered foolhardy. If you can kill them, the XP will be less than optimum to encourage you to go pick on somebody your own size.
  • Caution! - You are 4 to 9 levels below this mob's level and will get the best experience from it. His full drop table is available.
  • Blue Meanie - You are within 3 levels, above or below, of this mob's level and will get very good experience from it. You definitely may see some Good drops.
  • Green Means Go - You are 4 to 6 levels above this mob's level and will get good experience from it. You may see some Good drops.
  • Easy Money - You are 7 to 10 levels above the level of this mob and will get minimally acceptable experience from it. Common and Normal items will drop, but nothing better..
  • Trivial - You are more than 10 levels above them. You will get no XP. Intelligent mobs will recognize the mismatch and will leave you alone. Beasts and unnatural monsters may still behave aggressively. Even if they do wanna fight, their Aggro Range should be greatly reduced. Only Quest Items, Monster Compendium Cards, and Common Drop Table items will drop.

Respawning[ | ]

see Respawn Timer

Most monsters respawn in roughly 1 minute 30 seconds. Longer for bosses, and somewhat less for some common monsters. All have one thing in common, though. When they respawn, although they may be attacked instantly, they do not become aggressive for 5-10 seconds. This lets you move away from them if you are not ready for combat.

Sigils[ | ]

see Sigil

When you kill a mob, some will display a shiny emblem floating over the corpse. This is a Sigil, a temporary buff to aid you in combat. Just walk through the symbol to collect the buff.

Cavys[ | ]

see Magic Pets

Every mob you kill may have been the home of a spirit creature called a Magic Cavy or a Golden Magic Cavy. You need a Huntsman's Trap Huntsman's Trap in order to trap the Cavy, receive an egg, and add it to your Magic Pets.

Item Drops[ | ]

We do not normally list Health Potions, Mana Potions, Ammunition, Production Runes, and a few other things that are in the Common Drop List table for EVERY mob in the game. Drops from this table will be level-appropriate for the level of the mob that dropped them.

Although we do list Normal and Good drops, when we see them drop, these are also on shared Drop List tables for all or most mobs in the same zone. Rarely you will see an item of these qualities that drops from a specific mob only.

Quest Items are always listed, as are all Rare, Epic and Legendary drops, as these are almost always dropped only by specific mobs or groups of mobs and live on special Drop List tables.

Of course, there are exceptions to all of the above general rules.

Mob Buffs[ | ]

The color of the ball tells you what effect is on the mob. There is also an Effect icon on the mob. Just in case you do not notice the energy ball or the icon, there is a sound that all these enhanced mobs make.

Only mobs that display one of these four effects have a chance to drop a Mysterious Bag.
