I've put this rune together with what I saw that night during the raid and have successfully figured out how to use this type of rune. However, this is a rune that is used in battle, so I'm not planning on testing it myself.
In fact, this is the next task I have for your. Hold it this way as you engage in battle, then hit this area and you should be able to roast the target.
